Prizes

The $134,000 prize money amount is one of the largest among all university-sponsored business competitions. On the other hand, while $134,000 is a large purse for one contest, it is probably not sufficient to adequately fund all of the necessary resource requirements of a start-up venture. We envision that the winners of the prize money would use the reward to professionalize their business plan and presentation, build a refined prototype, begin the patent application process, help to build the foundations of a viable business, and/or attract additional capital. Pending further discussions in the organizational phase, eight finalists will be chosen from the written submissions to make final presentations. Finalists will receive prize money in the following amounts:

Additional prizes are available to the top three finalists from our Associate Sponsors:

Baker & Daniels
and B&D Consulting LLC will offer free legal and consulting services to the top three finishers in the Competition, assuming that there is no conflict of interest in rendering those services. The total value of the services will be $5,000 first place, $4,000 for second place, and $3,000 for third place.

Ernst & Young will offer free financial advisory services to the top three finalists in the Competition in the amounts of $5,000 for first place, $4,000 for second place, and $3,000 for third place.

The top Indiana-based finisher will receive $10,000 prize money from BioCrossroads.
